Wiki article about setting up a server: here. With Java being a dumpster fire of security risks I want to make sure I only download and install exactly what I need. My understanding is that you need to have Java in order to run the server software. I'm running the latest OS X (10.11) and have never installed Java on my iMac. I won't make this public - it's just for those in my house to be able to play together w/o having to pay for Realms each month. I have an older iMac (2011) that I'd like to setup as a Minecraft server for home usage.
